SimpleSite is a key player in the huge and still growing global market of DIY online website builders (SaaS). Each month between 200,000 and 400,000 users globally come to SimpleSite looking for a super-easy way to build websites on both mobile and desktop devices. Today’s access to large scale data gives SimpleSite the unique opportunity to constantly optimize the customer experience and revenue by testing what works and what doesn’t work through real-user experiments – A/B tests. Due to SimpleSite’s massive user base even small changes have a huge impact on the business.
Founded in 2003, SimpleSite was one of the first tech start-ups in Denmark to do actual growth hacking, and achieved global coverage at rapid speed. Since then SimpleSite’s organisation has grown to 60 people with an annual revenue of around 10 million Euro. Today, SimpleSite has 90,000 premium users worldwide, and more than 20 million websites been created. SimpleSite operates in 200+ countries with global customer service. The work SimpleSite affects millions of users’ basic need to communicate their message and purpose to the world. You will constantly be pursuing better usability striving for simplicity, rather than fancy features. Keeping an eye on the user’s experience as a focal point requires great team work and cross-functional cooperation in SimpleSite.
Your role in the Product and Growth Team
As part of the team you will be cooperating with your developer colleagues and UI always with an eye on what has the biggest impact on the core business. The Product and Growth Team consists of UI design, UX research + copywriting and user analysis/Growth Hacking and Manager.
You will take ownership by making suggestions to improve the overall user experience. Basing your suggestions more on facts than feeling, you clearly demonstrate your understanding for how the product experience is at the core of SimpleSite’s business. You will be sketching your ideas, brainstorming and communicating to all involved. Evaluating on launched features play an important part in making suggestions to what knowledge should be collected in order to drive further product development.
Last year a new product version was introduced resulting in a significantly better user experience. There is still lot of work to do and more pains to be identified and acted upon. Some issues are centered around the users’ expecting a very quick and guiding experience without having to be creative themselves. These elements are key to keeping the users attention.
SimpleSite is looking for:
A UX-designer who is ‘the UX person to go to’ in The Product and Growth team. Someone who thrives in a multicultural environment with clear expectations and an honest and direct communication style. Someone who is able to manage multiple task, be proactive and focused, however team-oriented, involving and helpful across functions. Someone who delivers high quality, while still fully respect the need for deadlines, execution and prioritisation.
Added to this, the ideal candidate holds
- 2-3 years of experience from digital platforms and especially web
- Knowledge of UX from a customer perspective
- Experienced in cooperating closely with developers
- An affinity for optimisation for conversion before radical changes
- Ability to turn insights from user tests, surveys, analytics, etc. into actions
- Being able to take the users’ perspective creating a coherent user experience
- Understanding of the technical possibilities and possible limitations in a modern web application
- Experience from working in an agile team and strong project leader skills
- Flexible and innovative, however structured and compliant when it matters
- Fluency in English oral and written
Growth Hacking and start-up environment
SimpleSite has been a front-runner in Growth Hacking in Denmark by experimenting and using different optimization techniques within marketing and product development. A common desire to share knowledge and learn from the Copenhagen tech start-up environment inspired Morten Elk, CEO of SimpleSite, to create the community The Nordic Growth Hackers. For the past three years this community has organized quarterly meet-ups to share specific and actionable insights about growth from excellent start-ups in Copenhagen, such as Unity, Trustpilot, Momondo, Vivino, GoMore and Endomondo.

Right now, SimpleSite is formulating a new strategy that will help us focus our value-proposition and stand out from the competition in the years to come. We expect the strategy to pose new and exciting challenges to our product development, and the solution to these challenges will be critical in the coming years. Part of the strategy is to develop conversion models for the future. Today SimpleSite has a high rate of early commitment and revenue, but there is also a growing need to investigate future models for conversion and customer retention. Conversion drivers related to onboarding is highly important as mitigating the risk of lowering early commitment and revenue impact is key.
